Campaign Advisor: Optimization That Happens During the Send
Most cold email tools are reporting tools wearing the clothes of optimization tools. They show you, after the campaign finishes, which subject line performed better and which angle got more opens. By then you've already sent the same underperforming variant to your entire list.
SendState's Campaign Advisor works differently. It changes what you're sending while the campaign is still running — based on what's actually converting, not what converted last month.

What the Campaign Advisor Does
There are four layers:
Reply intent classification
Every reply is classified: positive interest, objection, not interested, auto-reply, out of office. This happens in real time so the Advisor has an accurate picture of which angles and CTAs are producing which outcomes.
Positive · Objection · Auto-reply · OOO · Neutral
Angle blocking
When a variant or angle produces too many objections relative to positive replies, the Advisor blocks it from being sent to remaining prospects. The campaign continues with the angles that are actually converting. No manual intervention required — though you can override in the timeline.
Threshold-based block · Per-angle and per-step · Volume shift to better performers
CTA softening and offer suppression
If a CTA or offer is driving a high share of objections or unsubscribes, the Advisor can soften the ask in subsequent steps or switch to observation-only mode for that segment. Offer suppression removes the ask entirely when offer-containing emails are underperforming.
Soften aggressive CTAs · Offer suppression · Observation-only mode
Full audit trail
Every block, soften, and volume shift is logged in the campaign timeline with a reason code. You see exactly which rule fired, for which angle or step, and when. No black box: full visibility, with the option to override any decision.

Why Mid-Campaign Matters
The standard A/B testing workflow in cold email looks like this: run variant A to half the list, run variant B to the other half, wait for the campaign to end, analyze which performed better, use the winner next time.
The problem: by the time you have statistically meaningful data, the campaign is over. You've sent the losing variant to thousands of prospects who might have responded to the winning one.
The Campaign Advisor doesn't wait for the campaign to end. When angle B starts accumulating objections at step 2, it stops sending angle B to the remaining 60% of the list who haven't received step 2 yet. They get angle A — or whatever is converting — instead. Later prospects in the campaign get the improved mix. Not the original static split.
What You See in the Timeline
Every Campaign Advisor decision appears in the campaign timeline:
- Which angle was blocked and why (objection rate crossed threshold)
- Which step triggered an offer suppression and for which segment
- How volume shifted between variants after a block
- Which decisions you've reviewed and which you've overridden
This isn't a system that runs in the background and hands you results. It's a system that runs transparently while you watch — and lets you push back on any decision it makes.
Who it's for
Built for teams that run campaigns at scale
The Campaign Advisor is built for anyone running cold email with multiple angles, variants, or steps. That includes agencies testing angles across clients, SDR teams with shared sequences, and operators who want campaigns to improve during the send — not only in the next iteration.
Agencies
Test angles across clients; the Advisor blocks underperformers and shifts volume automatically. Full audit trail for client reporting and optimization reviews.
SDR and sales teams
Shared sequences improve while they run. Underperforming angles are blocked; CTAs that trigger objections are softened. No need to wait for the campaign to end to fix the next one.
Operators and founders
Run fewer, smarter campaigns. The Advisor ensures the rest of your list gets the angles and CTAs that are actually converting, not the ones that looked good on paper.
Common questions
The Campaign Advisor is a mid-campaign optimization layer that monitors reply intent in real time and adapts what you're sending while the campaign is still running. It blocks underperforming angles, softens CTAs when they generate friction, suppresses offers in segments that respond better without them, and logs every decision with a reason code in the campaign timeline.
Standard A/B testing shows you which variant won after the campaign ends — by which point you've already sent the losing variant to your entire list. Campaign Advisor blocks underperforming variants mid-send so later prospects receive the improved mix, not the original static split.
Yes. Every decision is logged in the campaign timeline with a reason code. You can review any block, soften, or volume shift and override it directly from the timeline. The system adapts the campaign but you stay in control — nothing changes without it being visible and reversible.
Angle blocking is when the Campaign Advisor stops sending a specific email variant to remaining prospects because that variant is accumulating too many objections relative to positive replies. The campaign continues with the angles that are converting. The blocked angle can be reviewed and reinstated from the timeline if needed.
Offer suppression is when the ask is removed from emails sent to a segment that's responding poorly to it — switching that audience to observation-only mode for the rest of the campaign. It happens automatically when the Campaign Advisor detects that offer-containing emails are producing objections or unsubscribes in that segment at a rate that justifies removing the ask.
